World Suicide Prevention Day observed at Hiyanglam

Kakching, September 11 2025: The District Health Society (DHS) Kakching, in collaboration with District Mental Health Programme(DMHP)Kakching, observed the "23rd World Suicide Preventin Day" at Hiyanglam Hiranmei Haoreima Sambubee Community Hall.

The event held under the theme "Changing the Narrative on Suicide, Start the Conversation", was graced by Chief Medical Officer and District Mission Director of National Health Mission, Kakching Dr Thaodem Rajen as chief guest; president of Youth Pioneer Association (YPA) Hiyanglam Hiranmei, Laishram Shantikumar as functional president; and District Immunization Officer in-charge Kakching, Dr Kshetrimayum Sumati Devi; District Nodal Officer of District Mental Health Programme Kakching, Dr Khangembam Gopeshwar; MO in-charge of PHC Hiyanglam, Dr Kh Krishnananda; former Ward member of Hiyanglam GP, Sh Memchoubi; Social Worker Ningthoujam Yaiskul; and president of Punshi Lamjing Meira VLF, K Tombisana as guests of honour.

Speaking at the event, CMO Dr Th Rajen stressed on the importance of suicide prevention, its causes, behavioural change, and the need for community support to save lives from suicide.

As part of the observance, a drawing competition for school children was organised.

In the competition, Hijam Chingkheinganbi Chanu of Hiyanglam Turel Manbi Primary School, secured the first position; Thoithoi Sanasam of Iramdam Maheikol (IMA) Langmeidong, won second place; and Nungleppam Mangai of IMA Langmeidong, and E Mangalsana of Hiyanglam Turel Manbi Primary School bagged the third position.

The event was attended by various ASHA Workers under PHC Hiyanglam and members of Village Level Federations.
