Kshetrigao beneficiaries appeal for removal of rice agent

Beneficiaries of National Food Security Act (NFSA) under the jurisdiction Top Makha Leikai fair price shop no 97 in Kshetrigao AC have demanded the removal of the agent concerned, citing non-distribution of the rice for a protracted period.
In a press meet held at Top Makha Leikai on Wednesday, one of the beneficiaries contended that there are many beneficiaries who did not received their rice entitlement for eight months in 2024.For this year, the rice quota for February, March and April has not been distributed.
Amid many areas of Imphal East facing flood crisis a week ago, rice for the months of May and June were distributed but in reduced quantity, leaving many people frustrated.
The beneficiary continued that priority household card holders were given 3kg of rice instead of 5kg of rice and AAY beneficiaries provided only 20 kg, leaving many upset.
While there were reports that the rice for the month of July and August has been lifted, the same has not been distributed to the people till date, he maintained.
The beneficiary also conveyed that the agent offair.
price shop no 97, namely Ningthoujam Johnson, had collected the ration cards, thereby preventing the beneficiaries from availing various government schemes.
As such, the beneficiary appealed to authority concerned to look into the matter and remove the agent for dereliction of duties.
