Thoubal, May 11 2026:
Ahallon Anganglon United president Wahidur Rahman has warned that the organisation would launch various forms of agitation if the overhead tank constructed under the Haoreibi Makha Leikai Water Supply Scheme is not completed and drinking water is not provided to the residents at the earliest.
The warning was issued during a press conference held today at Haoreibi Makha Leikai.
Speaking to media persons, Wahidur Rahman alleged that the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission at Haoreibi Makha Leikai has turned into a "mockery" despite the mission's objective of providing safe and clean drinking water to every household.
He stated that the overhead tank under the scheme, which was taken up during the first phase of the mission in August 2020, remains incomplete even after several years, causing immense inconvenience to the local residents.
The AAU president further said that the organisation had repeatedly urged officials of the PHED department to expedite the completion of the project and ensure regular supply of drinking water.
However, according to him, the department allegedly asked the organisation to directly approach the contractor concerned.
Even after meeting the contractor, no positive response was received, he added.
He also pointed out that similar schemes launched on the same day in neighbouring villages have already been completed and are functioning properly, supplying drinking water to the people.
Wahidur Rahman claimed that out of around 600 households in the area, only nearly 250 households are currently receiving drinking water under the scheme, while the remaining households continue to face hardship due to the incomplete infrastructure.
Appealing to the State Government and concerned authorities to intervene immediately, he demanded speedy completion of the overhead tank, installation of the remaining pipelines and proper supply of clean drinking water to all households in the locality at the earliest.
