3-day training on sustainable fish farming held at Bamgaijang

Senapati, February 09 2026:
The National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Government of Manipur, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Senapati, successfully conducted a three-day training programme on "Sustainable Fish Farming" at Bamgaijang, aprominent fishfarming locality in Tamenglong district, from February 7 to 9, 2026.According to a release issued by the KVK Senapati, the programme was attended by 25 ST.

Technical sessions focusing on sustainable farming and farm management, integrated farming systems, disease and health management, and improved fish seed production were delivered by Dr Dorothy MS, Technical Executive, NFDB; Dr Makamguang Kamei, Subject Matter Specialists, KVK Senapati; Dr Hougaina Panmei, Lecturer, CHI Tamenglong; Kahiakgailiu Gomnei, Field Assistant, Dept of Agriculture; and Loveson Gonmei, District Fishery Officer (DFO) Tamenglong, Dept of Fisheries, Manipur.
Awareness on various government schemes and support programmes, including PM-MKSSY, PMMSY, FIDF, GAIS, Aquaculture Crop Insurance, and the formation of Fisheries Cooperative Societies, was also provided.
The training programme also included on-site field demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions on water-quality testing and management, integrated fish farming with mushroom cultivation, and other improved aquaculture practices aimed at enhancing productivity and strengthening the livelihoods of local fish farmers.
