Assam Rifles initiative brings civil society organisations together at Kakching

As part of its initiative to strengthen civil-military cooperation, Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised an interaction at Kakching on May 8, 2026 .
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), the event was led by Major General Gaurav Sharma, SC, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), and brought together representatives of Meitei, Pangal and Naga Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) .
The interaction witnessed participation from representatives of 12 prominent CSOs drawn from Kakching.
Thoubal and Chandel districts, reflecting a broad spectrum of community leadership and engagement across the region.
The programme was aimed at fostering mutual trust, enhancing dialogue with key stakeholders and promoting peace, stability and development in Manipur.
During the discussions, the Inspector General exchanged views with CSO representatives on prevailing security dynamics, community concerns and developmental aspirations of the local populace.
The open dialogue provided an opportunity for community leaders to share valuable suggestions and perspectives on issues concerning welfare and progress.
The event concluded on a positive note, with all participants reiterating the significance of collective efforts in ensuring lasting peace, communal harmony and socio-economic development in the state.
