KMAA, IPAK celebrate Foundation Day

Imphal, September 07 2026: Khwai Martial Arts Academy (KMAA), Uripok celebrated its 43rd Foundation Day today at Basketball Ground cum Community Hall, Uripok Achom Leikai.

Senior Advocate, High Court of Manipur Laishram Shashibhushan, Youth Club Uripok Achom Leikai president B Shanti Sharma, Corporator Ward No 6 T Indrajit Singh, SDU president Saikhom Birendrakumar Singh, NKSCT Uripok chairman Ningthoukhongjam Tombi Raj, former Associate Professor of Culture University Makhonmani Mongsaba and KMAA vice president Laishram Somendra Singh attended as presidium members.

KMAA vice president Ranjit Adhikari said the Academy has been working to groom disciplined youth.

He said the day was observed to reunite everyone after a gap and to resume activities.

He said Thang-Ta played a big role in safeguarding the land and must be preserved for future generations.

He appealed to the people of Achom Leikai to provide a space for the Academy's office.

Meanwhile, Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) observed its 13th Foundation Day today at its head office at Keishampat with a simple function led by its president.

In a press statement, IPAK conveyed wishes for unity and peaceful coexistence among all indigenous peoples of Kangleipak.

It said the function was held simply in view of the prevailing situation and the major issues of "No NRC Update, No Census" in the State.

IPAK said during the May 3, 2023 violence, many Meitei families were displaced after attacks by Chin-Kuki narcoterrorists and it had organised Free Mega Health Camp at several relief camps for the displaced.

The association said that this year it extended assistance to 80 families of those who sacrificed their lives defending the frontiers of the State during the conflict.

IPAK said it is preparing to continue support for families of the deceased and injured.
