Imphal, May 04 2026:
An environmental awareness programme featuring a tree plantation drive titled "Comprehensive Environmental Awareness Campaign" was held on Sunday at Nongdam village under Kasom sub-division of Kamjong district.
The initiative aimed at promoting conservation and sustainable practices while encouraging community participation in preserving the environment.
The programme was organised as part of environmental activist Jojo Robertson's campaign, with support from Phungyar Range Officer Ningshim and the Nongdam Village Authority.
It may be noted that Jojo Robertson has previously organised similar programmes at Tarong and Ashang Khullen villages.
The ongoing campaign seeks to plant around 2,000 tree saplings across Kasom Khullen subdivision, alongside spreadingawareness among local residents on the importance of environmental protection.
Speaking on the occasion, Jojo Robertson stressed that planting trees and conserving forests are vital in addressing rising global temperatures and changing weather patterns.
He highlighted the urgent need for collective action to safeguard the environment.
He further informed that, as part of the campaign, saplings will also be distributed to selected villages, with plans to extend the initiative to certain areas of the Imphal valley.
