Imphal, November 03 2025: Students, spearheaded by Kangleipak Students' Association, marched towards the Raj Bhavan seeking removal of the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University today.

The student protesters, however, were stopped by the police at Nitaipat Chuthek and prevented from proceeding towards the Raj Bhavan.

During the protest demonstration, KSA president Sukham Bidyananda claimed that Manipur University under the current Vice Chancellor has flouted many Acts, rules and statutes of the institution.

He said there is suspicion of irregularities in the recruitments to various posts.

Bidyananda further claimed that a statute of the university was amended and before publishing the amendment in the Gazatte, recruitment for statutory posts was conducted based on it.

Despite repeated appeals, the Governor has not heard the students and given an appointment, he said.
