MSPCL informs of OPGW cable theft, power and internet services of Ukhrul and Kamjong affected

The Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) has informed to the general public that the OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) cable for the 132 KV Yaingangpokpi-Hundung transmission line was stolen from Mongkot-Chepu area on the evening of June 29, 2025.According to a press note issued by the MSPCL, this marks the second incident of OPGW cable theft in the region.
"The cables, mounted on the 132 KV towers, are essential for maintaining both power supply and internet connectivity and has led to the disruption of services in both Ukhrul and Kamjong district incurring significant financial loss during the outage and maintenance work, said Shangriwung, manager Transmission Sub Division No VIII, MSPCL.
In this regard an FIR has already been registered at Litan Police Station.
MSPCL has therefore urged the general public to report any information related to the incident to the nearest police station to help recover the stolen OPGW cables to ensure smooth supply of power and internet services in the region.
