Govt Ideal Blind School celebrates 53 rd Foundation Day

Imphal, September 02 2026: The 53rd Foundation Day of Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel was celebrated today at the school auditorium.

Director, Social Welfare Department, Sheikh Abdul Hakim attended as chief guest, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Manipur W Birahari as special guest and retired Principal Brajamohon as president.

Speaking at the function, W Birahari lauded the instrumental performance presented by students of the school, saying they are among the top students among special schools.

He said strong action can be taken against those who discriminate against persons with disabilities and they should be treated with love and care.

He said many persons with disabilities have cleared UPSC exams.

Reservation is there for you in education and employment, so you must work hard, he encouraged the students.

He also elaborated on what can be done in case of discrimination against persons with disabilities.

Students of the Blind School presented instrumental and Qawwali performances.

Prizes were distributed to winners of a debate competition held as part of the foundation day.

Laptops and keyboards were also distributed to outstanding students by the Department.
