ADUM observes Global Day of Action

Imphal, June 30 2025: The Association of Drug Users, Manipur (ADUM) observed the Global Day of Action as part of the "Support.

Don't Punish" campaign at Manipur Press Club today.

The campaign champions harm reduction and drug policies rooted in public health, dignity, and human rights.

Held under the theme "Reclaim Power.

Resist Injustice.

Reform Drug Laws", the event was graced by MC Arun, HoD, Anthropology Department, Manipur University; S Sonia, vice-president, AMWJU and RK Token, advisory member, ADUM as panel members.

Addressing the gathering, M Sadananda, president, ADUM, stressed that drug users continue to be stigmatized and ostracized by society despite the World Health Organisation clearly stating that they need treatment.

A drug user who has committed a crime should be appropriately punished as per the law.

However, people should avoid publicly humiliating and mistreating them, he added.
