Nagaram women body clarifies

Regarding the allegation of collecting Rs 2000 annually from the street vendors who sell vegetables on the roadsides of Nagaram, Nagaram Women Society has clarified that they have never collected such a hefty amount from the street vendors.
In a statement, the women body said that they collect Rs 20 per vendor per month to maintain cleanliness at the area.
As per the joint resolution of Nagaram Youth Club and Nagaram Women Society, the two bodies have been conducting cleanliness drives on second Saturdays of every month since June 2016 .
The women body further said that they collect garbage and waste materials and dispose it to maintain a healthy environment.
The locals usually face the problems of pollution and flood due to dumping of garbage into drains and rivers, it added.
The women body urged the public to cooperate with them in maintaining cleanliness and not to level allegations against them.
