Imphal, January 20 2026: The Manipur Nat Sankirtan Apunba (MNSA) has extended financial assistance to Nevia, daughter of Moirangthem Jammen, anoted Nat Sankirtan singer who is currently undergoing treatment for a critical illness.

A team of the MNSA visited the residence of Moirangthem Jammen at Kairenbikhok ip Thoubal district and handed over a sum of Rs 75,000 .

The amount was collectively contributed by 93 members of the MNSA, along with support extended by Thongju MLA Th Bishwajit Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, MNSA secretary Y Bhumeshor said that many of the Nat Sankirtan artistes, although continue to face financial instability, the members to alleviate the hardship faced by singer Jammen and his family, pooled resources and extended the financial aid.

He further stated that although Manipuri Nat Sankirtan was inscribed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2013 and efforts have been made by the government to promote the art form, many practitioners still lack adequate job opportunities.

He noted that the modest income earned from Sankirtan performances often barely sustains their families and appealed to the public to support Sankirtan artistes and extend assistance during their difficult times.

The visit was also accompanied by MNSA president Lakhpati and Art & Culture Joint Director G Dharmadas.
