ILP Stir: Matai bans entry of non-locals

Endorsing the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit system in the state to check the influx of outsiders into Manipur, the residents of Matai village has banned the entry of non-locals without valid identification documents in and around the Matai village in Imphal East district.
In a public meeting organized jointly by Matai Women Welfare Association and Naharal Yaipha Lamjing Club at Matai Community Hall today, various eminent persons including N.Sorojini, President of Universal Mothers' Organisation and BM Yaima Shah, representative of Joint Committee on ILP system spoke on the issue of ILP system and the public demand for its implementation in the state.

Later, the meeting took five resolutions including the restriction on entry of outsiders without valid documents and need for prior permission of village Meira paibi or club before their entry.
The meeting also decided to press the government for immediate formulation of a restrictive law to check the entry of outsiders into Manipur and also to release the arrested ILP protesters without any condition.
Similar public meeting, rally and sit-in protest to press the demand for implementation of ILP system were also held at Moirang Leikoi community hall, Wabagai Keithel, Nambol Khabi, etc.
At Jiribam, members JCILPS Students' Wing conducted a meeting on the issue with JCILPS chairman Mutum Hemanta Mangang in the chair.
The meeting decided to step up the ILP movement in Jiribam from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Meira Paibis and local Club members of Sekmaijin area reportedly pulled up three migrant workers who came for repairing gas cylinders without any proper documents.
The arrested migrant workers were later handed over to the custody of Mayang Imphal Police.
