FESOK Thoubal launches tree plantation drive

Thoubal, May 19 2026: As part of the annual observance of World Environment Day under the aegis of FESOK, the FESOK Thoubal District Council in collaboration with the Divisional Forest Office (DFO), Thoubal on Monday launched a tree plantation drive across educational institutions in the district.

The plantation campaign, which will continue till May 27, was inaugurated at Wangjing High School, Lamding Higher Secondary School and YK College under the theme "Tunggi Meerolgidamak Ashangba Malem Ama Oihallasi" (Let us make the earth greener for future generations).

In a press release, FESOK Thoubal District Council stated that the initiative was launched in view of increasing environmental degradation caused by mass deforestation and widespread poppy cultivation, which have contributed to recurring floods and other natural calamities in recent years.

The organisation stated that the plantation drive aims to promote environmental stability for future generations and improve air and environmental quality by encouraging greater public participation in conservation efforts.
