State Level India Skill Competition 2025 begins

Imphal, December 18 2025: The State Level India Skills Competition 2025 Jointly organised by the Department of Skills, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship (SLEE), Directorate of Craftsman Training, Government of Manipur and the Manipur Society for Skill Development (MSSD) began today at the Government Industrial Training Institute CITI) in Takyel.

The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Anurah Bajpai, Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Manipur; N Bandana Devi, Secretary.

SLEE, Manipur; N Gojendro, Mission Director, MSSD; and Yaiphaba Longjam, Director, Craftsman Training.

Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Bajpai said that the State Level India Skill Competition will provide a platform for participants not only to demonstrate their skills but also to network with industry experts, mentors, and potential employers.

He asserted that the competition aims to showcase remarkable talent and innovation in various vocational domains among the youth of India.

He shared that India's demographic structure, with over 65% of its population under the age of 35, represents a significant demographic dividend that could drive economic growth and innovation if the potential of this large youth pool is effectively harnessed.

"The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) was established in November 2014 to spearhead India's Skill India mission, focusing on large-scale skill development, quality training, and bridging skill gaps to boost youth employability through initiatives like PMKVY", he added.

Highlighting that India faces significant challenges with youth unemployment and the need for global-level skill development, Anurag Bajpai said, "Initiative like the India Skills Competition are crucial to address these issues by promoting vocational training and providing a platform for young talent to achieve national and international recognition" .

As part of the event, medallists in the National Level Skill India Competition 2024 namely Aldisona Ngangom (Bakery) and Wahengbam Premchand Luwang (Electrical Installation) were also felicitated.
