Senapati, December 14 2024:
In view of the deplorable condition of the road which serves as the region's lifeline, the drivers' union of 3 Laii (Vafiimai) villages repaired the 10 km road stretch from Vaisiichu to Chingmai Khullen/Khunou (TT Laii Road) to Laii villages.
According to sources, the villagers had pleaded for renovation of the roads in the area but received no positive response from the State Government and the concerned departments.
Subsequently, the union took over the responsibility of repairing the road by filling up the potholes and resurfacing the road.
After completing the repair work, the union appealed to everyone to drive carefully during this festive season.
In response, different villagers of the area extended gratitude to the driver's union for their commendable work.
While adding that a good road is the key to development, the villagers stated that the road from Vasiichu to Laii, which should be a 15-minute drive, took more than 1 hour due to the poor condition of the road stretch.
The villagers rued that despite being one of the biggest villages in Manipur, the roadways and development facilities are still in a pathetic state.
