New Govt likely before Parl session: MLA Rameshwar

Imphal, July 13 2025: Keirao MLA Lourembam Rameshwar has said that there is high possibility of forming a new government in Manipur without extending the President's Rule before the commencement of the Monsoon session of Parliament starting from July 21.Addressing the gathering at a reception programme of sportspersons organised by Kanglei Sports Academy (Kangleisha) at Kyamgei Heibong Makhong community hall on Sunday, MLA Rameshwar said the Monsoon session of Parliament scheduled to commence from July 21 will continue till August 21.The President's Rule in Manipur will complete six months on August 12 midnight.

As such, there is high possibility of central leaders facilitating formation of a new government without extending President's Rule, he said and claimed that different sources are indicating government formation.

As chief guest at the event, MLA Rameshwar said there is no good road, including national highways, in Manipur with condition of almost all the arterial roads in bad shape for the past many months.

Compared to a neighbouring state initiating road improvement works with Rs 2,000-3,000 crore fund from the ministry Manipur is planning road improvement works with Rs 6,000-7,000 crore from the same ministry.

Unfortunately, the state is yet to initiate tender process for road improvement projects due to disputes thereby compounding suffering of the people, he said and appealed the MLA colleagues to be sincere in taking up welfare activities for the people.

According to MLA Rameshwar, it is emotional to see living conditions of people displaced by the ongoing violence staying in relief camps, where some were forced to take the extreme steps owing to uncertain future and pathetic conditions of the relief camps.

Accordingly, restoration of peace and normalcy is very much required so that all the displaced persons could return to their respective homes, he said and appealed people to extend help in re-construction of houses torched or destroyed during the violence.

Regarding development in Keirao assembly constituency, MLA Rameshwar said compensation for some owners of land affected by the Imphal Ring Road is pending due to dispute but assured that the company entrusted to execute the project will be approached for early disbursement of compensation.

He also said that road improvement works in Keirao assembly constituency will be taken up with Rs 40 crore funding.
