Two held in RSS Haraorou office attack case

Imphal, May 13 2025: Security forces on Sunday apprehended two individuals in connection with the mob attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office at Haraorou under Sagolmang police station, Imphal East district, which occurred in November 2024, according to a statement from the police control room.

The arrest was made at Yumnam Khunou Awang Leikai under the jurisdiction of Sagolmang PS.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Haobijam Kumarjit (45), and Haobijam Mangangcha Singh alias Naobi (41), both residents of Yumnam Khunou Awang Leikai in Imphal East district.

The RSS office was attacked by a mob in November last year when protests broke out across Imphal valley following the recovery of bodies of three women and three children in Jiribam district.

The six were abducted by armed Hmar militants from Jiribam and were found dead a few days later along the Manipur-Assam border.

Several residences of MLAs and ministers were vandalised and torched during the riots that followed the incident.
