World Mental Health Day observed

The Centre for Women and Girls (CWG), in collaboration with the Camp Management Committee (Relief Camp) and 3 Assam Rifles, observed World Mental Health Day 2025 at ZEO Relief Camp in Tengnoupal district yesterday.
The event, held under the theme "Access to Mental Health Service in Catastrophes and Emergencies," aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, particularly for displaced persons living in relief camps.
Delivering the keynote address, Hechin Haokip, Executive Director of CWG, emphasized the significance of mental health in the face of crisis and displacement.
She said, "The mind is a place too.
A home can be destroyed, but mental health requires time, compassion, empathy, kindness, and care" .
Haokip further stressed that mental health is a human right and a vital part of survival, recovery, and rebuilding.
She urged the audience to recognize the importance of collective healing, stating, "Healing cannot happen in isolation.
It happens when we feel seen, supported, and safe" .
The event featured a "Run for Mental Health" from Tengnoupal H'S ground to ZEO Relief Camp, various games and sports events, and painting and slogan writing competitions for youth and children.
Distinguished guests, including Dr Aachal Riyal, Assistant Commandant 3 AR, president KSO Tengnoupal, Chief of Tengnoupal village, and religious leaders, graced the occasion.
