DC Bishnupur distributes books, looms and sewing machines to IDPs

Bishnupur, September 11 2025:
Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur Pooja Elangbam, today distributed books to children and handed over looms and sewing machines to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at an event held at Shanti Mandop, Moirang.
The programme was organized by the 08 Battalion CRPF, M&N Sector, under the CivicAction Programme.
Addressing the gathering, DC Pooja Elangbam urged the beneficiaries to utilize the looms and sewing machines to generate income and improve their family's livelihood.
She encouraged the production of quality clothes that can be marketed effectively, emphasizing self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
She also appealed to the children to develop reading habits and stay away from mobile addiction.
Pooja Elangbam expressed gratitude to the CRPF for the initiative and support, describing the collaboration as a significant step toward aiding the IDPs.
She assured that such support would continue through further joint efforts.
Commandant of 08 Bn CRPF, Chandra Shekhar, reiterated the CRPF's commitment to community welfare, stating that this initiative is just the beginning, with more similar activities planned for the future.
A total of 20 IDPs from various relief camps including Takmu Water Sports Complex, Laishoi Relief Camp, Sendra Floriculture Relief Camp, Khoyol Keithel Relief Camp, and Tourist Resort Sendra Hillock Relief Camp received looms and sewing machines.
In addition, DC Pooja Elangbam distributed books to children from her side, promoting education and literacy.
A free medical health camp was also held as part of the programme, offering free consultations and medications to attendees.
Security officers from CRPFs and locals also attended the programme including the IDPs .
