Kakching, May 11 2026:
An anti-drug awareness programme for students ofPadma Rama English School was organised today by the Zonal Education Office Kakching under the overall supervision of the District Administration Kakching.
The programme was conducted under the theme "Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions" with the objective of creating awareness among students on the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and substance abuse.
During the awareness campaign, students were sensitised on various health hazards caused by tobacco and drugs, prohibition of tobacco use within school premises and the ban on sale of tobacco products within a 100-yard radius of educational institutions.
Officials informed that a similar awareness programme had earlier been conducted at Kakching Higher Secondary School as part of the continuing initiative to promote a drug-free and tobacco-free educational environment in the district.
The initiative was stated to be in line with the objectives of the District Level Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) mechanism, which aims to strengthen coordination among the district administration, police, education, health and other concerned departments in tackling drug abuse and substance-related issues.
The District Level NCORD committees are also actively engaged in organising awareness campaigns, monitoring substance abuse, promoting rehabilitation support systems and encouraging community participation in building drug-free educational institutions and societies.
