CCpur, February 11 2026:
The Kuki Chief Association, Manipur (KCAM) has expressed grave concern over the violent incident that unfolded at Litan Sareikhong on February 7, 2026, condemning in strongest terms the acts of arson attributed to villagers from both sides - the Sikibung Tangkhuls and he Litan Sareikhong Kukis.
The association squarely blamed the government for failing to prevent the recurrence of such "barbaric acts," which they stated continue unabated.
According to KCAM, the violence stemmed from a minor altercation involving a few intoxicated individuals from both villages.
The issue, they noted, was originally expected to be settled peacefully in accordance with customary norms through the established village authorities of Litan Sareikhong, in consultation with the injured individuals' family.
Despite this, the Association lamented that the situation escalated due to what they described as a blatant disregard for the reconciliation process.
KCAM further urged that the incident must not be allowed to spiral beyond into a larger communal conflict.
The organisation emphasised the need to contain the crisis within the Litan area and to treat it strictly as a dispute between two villages.
