Imphal, September 05 2025: The Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU) has resolved to extend the tenure of its present office bearers by one year while deferring the proposed MHJU Election-cum-Foundation Day observation program in light of the prevailing law and order situation in the State.

According to a release issued by the MHJU, the decision was taken during a virtual meeting held on September 4 with participation from members across all hill districts.

The meeting unanimously resolved to extend the term of the current office bearers from September 7, 2025 to September 7, 2026 .

Consequently, the proposed election-cum-foundation day celebration scheduled for September 7, has also been postponed.

However, MHJU has permitted its district units to hold foundation day observances, as per their own convenience.
