Special Driving Training for IDPs launched

A 1-Month Special Driving Training for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking shelter at relief camps was launched on Monday at Institute of Driver Training & Research Centre (IDTRC) Hall, Top Dusara, Yaralpat, Imphal East district.
For the first phase, training will be conducted for 20 IDPs selected Irom those staying at the relief camps opened at Akampat Ideal College, Imphal East district and Trade Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West district.
The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Khumanthem Diana, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East; M Lakshmikumar Singh, Chief Advisor, Advisory Committee, IDTRC Manipur; Imphal East district's Additional Superintendent of Police (Law & Order), Sankar and Additional Superintendent of Police, K Bijoykumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Khumanthem Diana said that the State Government has taken up various programmes/ activities from time to time to help and support the IDPs who are taking shelter at various relief camps set up across the State.
She mentioned that the Special Driving Training is being organised as part of the skill development programme for IDPs.
"Altogether, 200 IDPs will be given special training in phase-wise manner", she added.
