Thoubal, May 04 2026:
In view of the hardships faced by students and guardians amid the ongoing ethnic conflict in the State since May 3, 2023, the Private Schools' Development Council (PSDC), Thoubal, has announced that no admission fees will be charged for students seeking admission to Class XI for the 2026-27 academic session in Higher Secondary Schools under its affiliation.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the executive members of PSDC Thoubal held today at Fancier Hr Sec School, located at Thoubal Wangmataba College Road.
Speaking to the media, PSDC president Salam Jotin stated that the prolonged ethnic violence, now extending beyond three years, has severely affected the socio-economic condition of the people.
As a result, many parents are facing difficulties in meeting educational expenses, leading to a rise in student dropouts.
In an effort to ensure students continue to exercise their rights to education and to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians, the council resolved to provide free admission to all Class XI students across its affiliated institutions.
Jotin further informed that there are 17 Higher Secondary Schools under PSDC Thoubal, offering a combined intake capacity of around 5,000 seats for Class XI .
He appealed to the public to support and encourage the initiative.
All students residing in Manipur will be eligible to avail of this benefit, he added.
