Left parties condemn US aggression on Venezuela

Imphal, January 04 2026: Four Left parties of Manipur namely CPI(M), CPI, RSP and AIFB, have strongly denounced and condemned the US aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

"This is an attack carried out against a sovereign Nation in blatant violation of the UN Charter", said a joint release issued by CPI(M) Manipur, CPI Manipur, RSP Manipur and AIFB Manipur.

In the release, the Left parties pointed out the recent statements made by US President Donald Trump and US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio regarding their plans to capture oil reserves of Venezuela.

"These statements, coming days after the release of the US National Security Strategy 2025, make it clear that US imperialism seeks to impose its hegemony over the entire world, even if it means carrying out military attacks", it added.

The Left parties alleged that the US wants to impose the Trump corollary of the infamous Monroe doctrine that treats the entire Western Hemisphere as its backyard and run its writ.

The Left parties also stated that as per reports coming from Venezuela, people are mobilising in large numbers against US aggression and in defence of their country's sovereignty.

Extending its wholehearted support and solidarity with the fighting people of Venezuela, the Left Parties called for Nationwide protests against US aggression and in solidarity with the people of Latin America.

The Left parties also appealed to all peace-loving, antiimperialist people of the State to mobilise in large numbers and actively participate in these protests.

The Left parties further urged the Government of India to join the voices of countries across the world condemning US aggression and stand firmly with Venezuela.
