Discussion on 'Sacred sites of Koubru and Thangjing' held

A one-day discussion programme on 'Sacred Sites of Koubru and Thangjing' was held today at the Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club organised by the Committee on Protection and Preservation of Historical Rights of Koubru and Thangjing Hill Ranges (CPPKT) today.
The discussion was graced by CPPKT president Sapamcha Jadumani; Salai Kanba Lup president Leichombam Gopal; Kabui Union Manipur president Dr Heera Kabui; Kom Tribe Organisation president Haopu Kom; Ibudhou Thangjing Seva Mandal representative Philem Mangilal; Purum Riem Council chief Shongthu Ajay Purum; Chothe Tribe Union president Ibohal Chothe and Kangchup Chiru Khullakpa Akhung Thanga Chiru as the presidium members.
Speaking in this connection, CPPKT president Sapamcha Jadumani highlighted the significance of the Koubru and Thangjing Hill Ranges as pilgrimage sites and origin/birthplace of indigenous communities.
In view of the recent controversies surrounding the Thangjing and Koubru Hill Ranges, he said the Indian Government should offer protection and security to these sacred sites.
