TDU celebrates 39th foundation day, honours artists for dedication and service

Thoubal, November 02 2025: The Tangjeng Ningthou Dramatic Union (TDU), Thoubal, celebrated its 39th foundation day with grandeur and reverence at the residence of Nongthombam Ronelkumar Singh located at Kiyam Siphai Babu Bazar.

The celebration included a grand felicitation ceremony honouring artists ofthe Union for their exemplary service and dedication to the field of art and culture.

The event was graced by Wangkhem Assembly Constituency MLA and MPCC president, Keisham Meghachandra as the chief guest; Thoubal Municipal Council ward no 16 caretaker councillor, Mutum Ibobi as functional president.

Other dignitaries present included Khunjamayum Thambal Singh, caretaker councillor of Thoubal Municipal Council ward not 12; Ningthoujam Shanti, caretaker councillor of ward no 15; Thingujam Sangeeta Devi, caretaker councillor of ward no 14; State Director of Mera Yuva Bharat, Lisham Marjitkumar; and Manipur State Kala Awardee Brajabashimayum Jugolchandra Singh; who served as guests of honour.

As part of the programme, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of former TDU director, late Nongthombam Ibotombi Singh and other late artists of the Union.

A minute of silence was also observed in memory of the departed souls, acknowledging their contributions.

The celebration also featured vibrant cultural performances by the artists of TDU, including presentations of Thougal Jagoi, and Leima Jagoi, which captivated the audience.
