Thoubal, September 02 2025: A 10-day skill development training programme on "Extraction, Processing, Value Addition and Product Development from Pineapple Leaf Fiber," organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal, concluded today at KVK Thoubal training hall.

The training programme, which commenced on Aug 20, 2025, was hosted by the Agriculture Department, Govt of Manipur, under the initiative of ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata.

The valedictory function, attended by farmers of various Farmer Producer Company (FPC) Ltd, was graced by Horticulture & Soil Conservation Office, Thoubal, District Officer Kh Malemnganba; ICAR NINFET Scientist Naveen Jose; and KVK Thoubal, Head Senior Scientist Dr Zeshmarani Sarangthem as presidium members.

During the 10-day programme, participants were trained in pest and disease management of pineapple, utilization of natural minor fibers and product diversification, marketing strategies, and techniques to enhance the economic value of pineapple cultivation.

Practical demonstrations were given by experts, while participants also undertook an exposure visit to CAU Imphal.

Certificates were awarded to all successful participants during the concluding ceremony.
