Capacity building programme for DIETs, HE teachers concludes

A 15-day capacity building programme for "DIETs and Higher Education teachers" concluded today at the central hall of GP Women's College, Dhanamanjuri University (DMU), Imphal.
The programme was organised by GP Women's College under the sponsorship of the Directorate of SCERT, Government of Manipur and the Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur.
The valedictory function was graced by dignitaries, including Prof W Chandbabu, Vice Chancellor, DMU; L Radhakanta, Director, Directorate of University & Higher Education, Manipur; Prof A Romel, Director, Directorate of SCERT, Manipur; and Prof L Rajen Singh, Principal, GP Women's College.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof W Chandbabu said that colleges and universities across the country are facing significant challenges in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including the complex task of integrating the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) into curricula, developing multidisciplinary courses, training faculty for a holistic and skills-focused approach, and addressing infrastructure gaps and funding needs.
Achom Roshan Kumar, programme co-ordinator, asserted that the NEP 2020 emphasizes a move towards holistic and multidisciplinary education by integrating local elements, breaking down rigid subject silos, and fostering a well-rounded development of students in both cognitive and affective domains.
He asserted that the capacity building programme for teachers of DIETs & Higher Education was conducted to enhance their professional skills, knowledge, and competencies, enabling them to adapt to educational changes and improve student learning outcomes.
Notably, the programme was focused on key areas such as innovative pedagogy, technology integration, research & publications, media, film, etc .
