Imphal, June 30 2025: Condolences have poured in over the sudden demise of eminent.

Manipuri classical dancer and recipient of Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award Thiyam Suryamukhi Devi.

Thiyam Suryamukhi Devi breathed her last at her residence in Keishampat Leimajam Leikai in the wee hours of June 29.She was 90.In her honour, a solemn event was held at the office of the Art & Culture Department, Government of Manipur in Palace Compound on Monday.

During the event, officials and staff of the department remembered the numerous contributions made by Thiyam Suryamukhi and shared the grief & pain of the bereaved families.

The gathering led by K Dinamani, Special Commissioner, IPR and Art & Culture, also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.

Moreover, Leikol (Leimarol Khorjeikol) has also expressed profound sorrow and condolence over the sudden demise of eminent classical dancer Thiyam Suryakumari.

Leikol president Kshetrimayum Subadani chained a condolence meeting on Monday to mourn the demise of the eminent classical dancer.

In the meeting, members of the Leikol shared the grief of the bereaved family and observed two minutes of silence to pray for the departed soul to rest in peace.
