More condemn Chassad arson

Condemnation on the arson at Chassad village in Kamjong district continued to pour in with the Zomi Human Rights Foundation and Kuki CSOs of Karbi Anglong joining the bandwagon today.
The Zomi Human Rights Foundation, GHQ said that burning of Chassad Village to ashes on March 16 in a broad daylight was very unfortunate.
The foundation also condemned the security forces stationed at Chassad areas, Kamjong District for not taking any precautionary measure to control the untoward incident and letting such incident to unfold under their nose.
While condemning the incident, the foundation urged the authority concerned to restore normalcy at the earliest possible time in Chassad and compensate the victims and their families and provide every possible relief to them.
The foundation also appealed all to maintain peace and tranquillity in the area.
The Kuki CSOs of Kangbi Anglong, Assam also held an emergency meeting at the Kuki National Assembly complex, Manja wherein it vehemently condemned the arson under the watchful eyes of security forces.
Based on some viral videos, the identities of the arsonists are starkly clear, said a statement of civil bodies comprising of KNA, KGBA, KSO, KHRF, KWA and KNT.
During the meeting, the Kuki CSOs urged the State Government to book the arsonists at the earliest.
It also called for adequate compensation to the victims.
Further, the meeting decided to petition the Union Home Minister for a spot visit to better assess the situation and ease tension.
They have also called for appropriate action against the security forces deployed in the area.
The Kuki Baptist Convention (KBC), India also expressed its heartfelt pain, anguish and deep concern over the torching of several houses in Chassad village on March 16.To help the process of relief and rehabilitation of the Chassad village, the KBC has entrusted its development committee to coordinate and to organise contribution and donation from like-minded Churches or religious entities, said a press release from KBC.
The convention also appealed to all members of the communities to not communalise the Chassad incident but put hands together for peace and harmony.
