All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) appealed to all priests, Pastors and Church leaders of all denomination in the State to suspend Church services till March 31 .
AMCO discussed on the prevailing situation of COVID-19 and other issues pertaining to the directive of PM Narendra Modi in regard to Janata Curfew as a preventive measure against novel coronavirus pandemic.
The discussion was held during its special general body meeting held at Seventh Day Adventists (SDA) office, Chingmeirong, Imphal today, said a press release issued by general secretary, AMCO.
It further appealed all to pray at home and refrain from public Church services while mentioning that any individual may come to Church for prayer in private for the victims and eradication of COVID-19.Meanwhile, All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur State Committee has also postponed its 16th State conference, which was scheduled on March 22 at THAU ground owing to the novel coronavirus epidemic across the country.
The union, during its State committee meeting held on March 15, decided to organise the conference on May 1, said a press release issued by AITUC Manipur secretary.
An 11 member prepatory team has been formed with A Sharatchandra as the convenor for organising the conference, it added.
On the other hand, the union has also announced that the 42nd AITUC National conference (slated to be held from April 2 to 5) will be held during May 27-31 instead.
On the other hand, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board has prohibited any gathering at Lainingthou Sanamahi Laishang at 1st MR campus as part of following the advisories issued by the State Government on the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
The board, in a statement, mentioned that it will not allow 'Yakaibung Kaba' and added that Luk Katpa for only 80 people will be accepted.
Meanwhile, Nongmaiching Lainingthou Baruni Seva Committee has banned all ritual ceremonies at Baruni hill from tomorrow till March 22, as part of the precautionary steps against COVID-19 .
Nongpok Sanjenbam club, Meira Paibis, village authority alongwith Takhel GP Pradhan and its members held a meeting at Sanjenbam Khunou Community Hall today.
A joint decision was taken in the meeting whereby offering prayers at Shiv Mahadeva temple, trekking of Chinggoi Baruni Ching, setting up of stalls, parking of public and private vehicles in the area, etc have been prohibited from March 21 to 22, in public interest as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus, informed a press release by Sanjembam Khunou Development Club.
