COVID-19 : Medical team screen record high 2683 in single day at Mao gate

Stepping up the precautionary steps to fence off coronavirus threat in Manipur, a medical team of Senapati registered a record high screening of passengers entering Manipur at Mao Gate on Thursday.
With many students, private sector employees and citizens of Manipur based outside the State returning in high numbers, all vehicles, especially passenger vehicles were screened by the medical team with assistance from Police, local town committee & student's body and Mao Student's Union.
A total of 2,683 people including 1776 male and 907 female were screened on Thursday at the Mao gate .
Suspected cases of coronavirus were not detected till date.
State Health, Additional Director, Dr Shasheekr and CMO Dr N Dihe along with senior doctors Dr M Pfokrehrii, Dr Jacob along with SDH staff and police led by OC Jonah conducted the screening at the entry point of Mao.
The team along with other District Level Officers also met Deputy Commissioner Somorjit Salam on the issue at DC office.
On Friday, the screening was held together with a medical team from Sub-District Hospital, Mao, Mao Police led by OC, Inspector Jonah and Song-Song Youth & Students Association under the banner of Mao Students Union.
Around 2070 individuals were tested till evening today as reported from Mao Police.
The Mao Police requested all to cooperate in the screening.
The screening is stated to be done 24x7 on a shift basis every day.
No suspected cases are found so far according to Mao Police source.
