Imphal, July 02 2010:
With the former Chief Minister of Manipur, W Nipamacha as its president, the Rastriya Janata Dal (RJD) came to existent in Manipur on July 8, 2005 .
According to a source, the party today face a grim future in the state.
W Nipamacha and some members of RJD defected to Bharatiya Janata Party during the run-up to the 15th Lok Sabha election.
After their defection, a MLA of the party, MD.Hellaluddin took charge as president.
The party has three MLAs elected from Chandel A/C, Tipaimukh A/C and Lilong A/C.During the Rabina and Sanjit murder episode, economic blockade at NH 53 and NH 39 or any other issues affecting the state, the party remains a mute spectator and does not express anything regarding the issues.
Their office at Baburapara, Imphal is almost non-functional.
The party's MLAs are working under bigger parties to serve their own vested interests.
In the recently held ADC election, the party cannot sponsor a single candidate at Tipaimukh though the constituency has a RJD sitting MLA and their candidate at Chandel was routed.
It is not certain whether the party will observe its coming 5th foundation day, the source added.
