Thoubal hosts district-level painting and quiz competitions for Road Safety Month

Thoubal, January 30 2026: As part of the nationwide observance of National Road Safety Month 2026, the District Transport Office Thoubal organised a District Level Painting and Written Quiz Competition for students of Classes IX and X at the ZEO Zone III Hall, Thoubal.

The initiative aimed to promote awareness on road safety among school students and encourage responsible behaviour on the roads.

In the painting competition, Raina Wakongthem of EGF School, Thoubal Ningombam, bagged the first position.

Jenibala Laishram of KM Blooming Hr Sec School secured the second position, while Khundrakpam Mangalnganba of Eastern Star Hr Sec School claimed the third position.

In the written quiz competition, Gunchenbi Sanasam of KGBV Ukhongsang took the first position, while Athoibi Khundrakpam of KM Blooming Hr Sec School and Farhan Alam Buyamayum of Bright Foundation won the second and third positions respectively.

Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Yumnam Robita, graced the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest.

ZEO Zone III Thoubal, Ksh Achouba; District Transport Officer Thoubal, Hemochandra Irengbam; ZEO Zone III Thoubal, DI N Rajen and Pangambam Rebika attended as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Yumnam Robita highlighted that with the improvements of road infrastructure in the State, the number of road accidents has significantly risen due to negligence and failure to follow traffic rules.

She stressed the need for a greater awareness, responsible driving and strict adherence to road safety guidelines to minimise road accidents.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of both die painting and quiz competitions.
