Imphal, June 29 2025:
As part of the annual Van Mahotsav celebrations, a tree plantation initiative will be organized at Khongjaingamba Ching Wildlife Sanctuary (KCWS), located near the world's only floating National Park, Keibul Lamjao National Park.
A release issued by the Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden stated that the event which aims to make the KCWS fully green, will brought together a wide range of participants, including school and college students, local volunteers, forest department officials, and members of the military and paramilitary forces.
During the event, hundreds of indigenous tree saplings would be planted across the sanctuary with a mission to restore degraded forest patches, improve wildlife habitat, and enhance the area's ecological balance.
The drive will also include an awareness session, highlighting the significance of afforestation and its direct impact on the health of nearby ecosystems such as Keibul Lamjao National Park.
