Moirang, July 28 2025:
Aggrieved by the sudden transfer of three teachers from Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, students have boycotted the Class X mid-term examination which commenced today.
The decision came during a protest demonstration held on the school campus, where students demanded that the transferred teachers be reinstated immediately.
Speaking to the media, a student representative Kh Nikhil expressed concern over the already dire situation in the school, which has been reeling under a shortage of teaching staff.
With 14 teachers already participating in the ongoing pen-down strike over regularization and salary issues, he criticized the authorities for worsening the situation by transferring 3 graduate teachers responsible for crucial subjects like Chemistry, English Grammar, and English Literature.
"A few months ago another teacher was also transferred.
The school is already struggling, and these moves have further paralysed daily functioning," Nikhil said.
He added that unless the transferred teachers are brought back, students will continue to boycott both classes and examinations.
A teacher representing the school faculty also echoed the students' concerns.
While acknowledging that the administrative move may be well-intentioned, he stressed that it comes at a time when the school is grappling with a significant staff crisis.
He urged the authorities to reconsider the transfers, and address pressing concerns, including infrastructure deficiencies and shortage of staff.
