Imphal, March 28 2026:
Cancer patients in Manipur no longer need to travel to other States for treatment, as several cancer hospitals have now been established in the State, said Dr Thangjam Dhabali, Managing Director of Babina Healthcare and Hospitality Industries Private Limited.
He made this statement during the opening ceremony of the two-day MOSCON conference of the Manipur Oncology Society, held today at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.
Speaking at the conference, which was held under the theme "AI and Omics in Precision Oncology," Dr Dhabali noted that cancer treatment in Manipur has undergone significant advancements over the past six years, with notable progress in treatment options and facilities.
Saying that cancer treatment and care are now available at patients' doorsteps in the State, he added that the number of cancer patients travelling to other States for treatment by spending large sums of money has declined significantly.
Dr Dhabali stated that there are currently three fully operational cancer hospitals in Manipur.
People still travel to other States for treatment, believing that those states offer better facilities, he said.
He added that the knowledge shared during the conference will be invaluable in improving cancer treatment and care in the State.
Director of Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre Prof Y Indibor and former head of RIMS Urology department Prof Sinam Rajen also attended the programme among others.
