Free eye camp and cataract surgery held

Kakching, June 27 2025: Shija Eye Care Foundation, Imphal in collaboration with National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB)-National Health Mission, and ShijaCity Dental Hospital, Kakching Chumnang Leikai, organised a free eye check-up and cataract surgery camp at ShijaCity Dental Hospital, Kakching Chumnang Leikai on Thursday.

The camp was supervised by a team of two specialist doctors and 10 staff members from Shija Eye Care Foundation, Imphal.

More than 80 patients from Kakching and surrounding areas actively participated in the camp, out of which 13 were detected with cataracts and 9 with glaucoma.

The patients will be given the benefit of conducting operation (surgery) at free of cost or at subsidized rates at Shija Hospital under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and NCPB schemes.

The Hospital will also cover logistics and patient care for upto two days.

The initiative was well-received by the people of Kakching, offering much-needed ophthalmic services to the local populace.
