Imphal, July 25 2026: Radheshyam Performing Art and Culture Academy, Imphal, staged 'Bashok Khandita' on Saturday at Aribam Mandap, Brahmapur Lalji Lakpa Leikai, along with a workshop.

The event was held under the Chief Ministergi Artistesinggi Tengbang scheme of the Department of Art and Culture, Manipur.

Inaugurating the programme, Gurumayum Dharmadas Sharma, Joint Director, Directorate of Art and Culture, Manipur, said the academy has been playing a major role in promoting Manipur's traditional art forms and has produced many renowned artists in the field of art and culture.

Guest of honour Takhellambam Irabot, spokesperson of Rajarshi Bheigyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur, said many now claim to perform Bashok without knowing its essence.

The true spirit and form of Bashok can be understood through Bashok Khandita, and efforts must be made to preserve it, he added.

Sangeet Natak Awardee and visiting guru of JN Manipur Dance Academy, Phanjoubam Eboton, also attended.

Tributes were paid to late gurus of the academy before the performance.
