'Save Imphal River' awareness campaign held

Imphal, September 24 2025: As part of the 'Nation First @ 75 campaign', the Directorate of Environment& Climate Change, Manipur organised a 'Save Imphal River' environment awareness campaign at Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai near Lamlong Bridge in Imphal East district today.

The campaign was conducted in collaboration with Rising Athletic Union (RAU) and Women Development Organisation of Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai.

The event witnessed active participation of local volunteers, womenfolk of the area and members of RAU.

On September 22, a similar awareness campaign to save the Nambul River was also held at Iroishemba-Irong area in Imphal West district, in collaboration with the Nambul River Protection Committee.

As per officials of the Directorate, efforts are also underway to cover additional areas along the Nambul and Imphal rivers.
