Imphal, May 24 2026:
Normalcy can return to Manipur only if the MLAs withdraw support to the BJP, said Samajwadi Party, Manipur State president Konthouj am Bishorjit today.
Addressing reporters at his residence in Konthoujam, Bishorjit said the unrest that began on May 3, 2023, has caused immense suffering to people across the State.
He alleged that the BJP-led government is "as good as non-existent", with separate laws operating in the hills and the valley.
"It is unfortunate that many people remain in detention with their whereabouts still unknown.
Why are the large number of security forces in the State silent on this issue? Militants continue to act at will, yet the Government says nothing", he said.
Bishorjit added that civilians abducted from the hills are still missing, while in the valley, arms are being seized instead of tracing the missing persons.
"How can such a Government continue to rule?" he asked.
Stating that people want peace and normalcy, he urged MLAs to stop backing the BJP.
"If MLAs withdraw support, the conflict will end and the State will return to normal", he said.
