Eat Right Mela & Walkathon 2026 highlights importance of balanced diet

Imphal, March 24 2026:
The State Food Safety Administration in association with the Directorate of Health Services organised the Eat Right Mela 2026 and Eat Right Walkathon at Youth Star Rising Club (YSRC), Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi Thokchom Leikai today.
While the theme of the mela was "Right Food, Better Life", the walkathon was carried out under the banner of "Eat Safe, Eat Healthy & East Sustainable Food" .
Dr N Hemantakumar Singh, Director of Health Services and Professor Ng Iboyaima Singh, Dean, College of Food Technology and Director of extension, CAU, Imphal flagged off the Eat Right Walkathon from YSRC.
The walkathon made its way along the Airport Road, making a U-turn near ISKON Gate and culminating at YSRC.
Various self-help groups of Imphal West, Herbalife team, students and Food Safety staff took part in the walkathon.
Speaking in this connection, Dr N Hemantakumar Singh spoke about food and, nutrition related diseases such as dysentery, hypertension, obesity etc.
He advised the public to lower their consumption of starchy food, bakery products, salt and greasy food.
He strongly advocated for consumption of leafy greens and a balanced diet to maintain good health.
A total of 30 stalls participated in the Eat Right Mela, displaying a variety of food items.
Professor Chinglen Maisnam, HoD, South East Asian Studies, Manipur University was also present at the event.
