Imphal, May 21 2026:
The North East Students' Organisation (NESO) has appealed to all groups concerned to release all hostages in their custody and ensure that no harm comes to them.
In a press note, NESO stated that a meeting was convened yesterday to deliberate on the ongoing conflicts between the Nagas and the Kukis.
Expressing grave concern over repeated incidents of ambushes, killings, abductions, and intimidation of civilians, the meeting resolved to stand for peace, restoration of normalcy and dignity for all innocent civilians affected by the conflict.
NESO strongly condemned the repeated attacks on innocent civilians, including Church leaders.
The organisation also questioned the role of the Government of India, citing alleged inaction and an inflammatory role in the prolonged conflict, which continues to claim innocent lives and destabilise the region.
Since the beginning of the violence, several people have been reported missing and remain untraceable, NESO said and demanded that the Government take all effective measures to ascertain their whereabouts.
NESO further appealed to all communities to reject violence and retaliation, urging them to work collectively towards peace, justice, and the restoration of normalcy in the State.
The meeting was attended by All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), All Assam Students' Union (AASU), All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU), Khasi Students' Union (KSU), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Garo Students' Union (GSU) and Naga Students' Federation (NSF) .
