Imphal, June 19 2025: Numerous people under the aegis of Lamphel Area Peace & Development Committee, took part in cleaning the drain and canals in Lamphel and surrounding areas on Thursday.

Volunteers of COCOMI, Lamphel Area Peace & Development Committee and residents of Lamphel area took part in the drive and cleaned the drain & water canals at different areas.

Speaking to media persons, Lamphel Area Peace & Development Committee convenor David, Khumancha said that since the last few years, the Lamphel area always gets flooded whenever there is rainfall leading to great inconveniences to the people residing around the area.

He continued that the 3-days cleanliness drive of the drainage systems in Lamphel area was conducted with the aim to prevent frequent flash floods due to water blockage.

Highlighting the importance of keeping the drains and canals clean to prevent flash floods, David conveyed his gratitude to all the volunteers and those who had provided their support/ assistance in the successfill conduct of the cleanliness drive.
