Imphal, December 18 2024: Haobam Satyabati Devi has been selectedfor Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 for her poetry book title "Mainu Bora Nungshi Sheirol".

She is among 21 writers who have been selected for the prestigious award.

Sahitya Akademi, the National Academy of Letters announced the winners of the award today.

8 books of poetry, 3 novels, 2 of short stories, 3 essays, 3 literary criticism, 1 play and 1 research have won the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2024, said the Akademi.

Haobam Satyabati Devi won the award in poetry category.

Other poets who have been selected for the award include Sameer Tanti (Assamese language), Dileep Jhaveri (Gujarati), Gagan Gill (Hindi), K Jayakumar (Malayalam), Paul Kaur (Punjabi), Mukut Maniraj (Rajashthani) and Dipak Kumar Sharma (Sanskrit) .

The award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque, a shawl and an amount of Rs 1 lakh will be presented to each winner at a function on March 8, 2025 at Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi, said the Sahitya Akademi.
