Imphal, November 18 2025:
All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has resolved to mount pressure on the Government to ensure that high school textbooks for the 2026-2027 academic session are made available by December last week of this year.
The resolution was passed during a one-day discussion on "The paper and printing quality of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur textbooks and their content" held at the Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club today.
At the gathering, many other resolutions were passed, including, to ensure that the printing, content, illustration, colouring, binding and paper quality of textbooks produced by BSEM lives up to the standard of NCERT textbooks; the paper used should be approved by the NCERT guidelines and topics and contents of BSEM textbooks should follow NEP 2020 guidelines.
Additionally, the gathering resolved that if the Board fails to make the textbooks available by the aforementioned period, then Class IX, X and other classes should be allowed to use books by other publishers.
It further decided that a State Textbook Corporation or Society should be established to monitor timely availability of textbooks in Manipur.
The discussion was attended by Laishram Joy Khuman, president, AMRPSWA; Professor N Rajmuhon, former VC, DMU; Dr H Ghanashyam, Principal, Modem Higher Secondary School, Bishnupur; Yumnam Rupachandra, Editor, Impact TV News and Jotin Salam, general secretary.
