Sewa Parv celebration promotes green drive in Chandel

Chandel, September 18 2025:
As part of the ongoing nationwide Sewa Parv celebration, being observed from September 17 to October 2, the Divisional Forest Officer, Chandel spearheaded a massive plantation drive in the district.
A total of 150 tree saplings were planted in and around the Chandel Maha Area Chiefs' Association premises.
The event also featured a foot rally with around 150 participants carrying placards urging protection and conservation of wildlife.
The programme was attended by Col Dr Md Akbar of 21 Assam Rifles; Dr N Munal Meitei, DFO/Chandel; Dr BD Thumdal anal, retired principal of United College, Chandel.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr N Munal Meitei, DFO/Chandel highlighted that Sewa Parv is a nationwide festival celebration of service, creativity, and cultural pride, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a developed India by 2047.He further stated that as part of the fortnight-long celebration, a total of 1,800 tree saplings will be planted across the district, alongside awareness rallies with active participation from school students.
Dr Munal appealed to the public of Chandel to extend their support and take part wholeheartedly in the initiative.
